After several compairsons we used the Men's Warehouse for our wedding party tuxes, had the David's Bridal $40 off each rental which went as planned. Measured by a new employee and requested sizes be changed so they wouldn't be baggy, that went ok. Paid all tuxes in CASH so they wouldn't have my credit card on file for anything and then asked when I get the coupon for the free suit.

Manager started saying something about Enron Corp and they don't issue the free suit coupon till you complete the rental of the tuxes, then you have 14 days after your event/return of the tuxes to get the free suit.

Keep in mind, nothing in life is free and that includes that suit.

The wedding goes great, tuxes returned and I get the voucher, go to the Mens Warehouse store across the street, huge selection I'm told.

Well, my jacket is a 46R and the salesman narrows down my choices of that free suit to 1/2 a dozen suits in the whole store, of those 6 only 2 are the color I'm wanting and 1 I found out was accidently put back in that section by mistake and not available. Turns out they have nothing I'm after.

The salesman comes back says says "this one is $498 on sale" and less than your $500 voucher. Try it on, fits great, get sized and here comes the pitch, fastball straight across the plate..."were having a sale, you can get this second suit for only $100". The wife says looks good so we go for the second. Alterations add around $70 to the price of each but if I'm getting 2 suits for a total investment of $240 altered ok.

We go to the register...guess what, the voucher for the free suit can't be applied to the one for $498 as it's regular price is $649, because the $100 second suit is only if you are a chump and pay the full price of the first one. Turns out the free suit voucher I had wasn't even activated then we get the "...we I didn't know you had a free suit voucher, you can only get one of the other suites (that don't fit and not in your color).

So I tell them to forget it, give me my voucher back and I'll go somewhere else. Then the back peddelign starts, "well, we had to add a $40 activation fee to your voucher", then he can't explain what that is since everything was already paid in full. Several times I told him to give me my voucher (and CC) back I'll go somewhere else.

So the nice guy he is, "I can discount the suit $50", no I'll go somewhere else. Now customers are taking notice of this "bait and switch" they are trying, again I told him there must be a misunderstanding, I'll take my voucher back and go somewhere else to shop.

Long and short, he discounted the suit again so now it was $100 off the $649 (which originally was on sale for $498 mind you), now I'm at $549.

HEY, I've got one of your rewards cards with a $50 credit, so my free suit coupon and the rewards card would buy it right? WRONG...can't use the rewards dollars on this sale as it's already been discounted.

So we finally settle on $549 for the suit (Tommy Hilfinger 100% wool). Take the $500 free suit voucher and I still covered the alterations. So the total came to $120 taylored and out the door.

Not too bad and knew they would try to get me but $120 for the total out the door was ok but would liked to have had the free suit, free.

Beware of this place, nothing is free and I'd be willing to bet a lot of guys get hit by this scam. Be sure to check the total before you give them your credit card, he was about to swipe it for $850 some odd dollars, playing dumb to the free suit voucher I told them about when we walked in.

Bottom line, I will NEVER go back to the Mens Warehouse for anything, period! All my other suits came from Dillards and they have sales too, just no the bait and switch tactics the MW has.

Monetary Loss: $50.

This was not my experience at all. Every time I have been to Men's Warehouse, they have been nothing but great.

I got all the tuxes for my wedding at Men's Warehouse, and got the Free suit voucher. I actually didn't get my suit squared away until yesterday, 10 months after my wedding.

Everything went smooth as glass, I was shown what I could pick from, and they had a very good selection, however the KC suit I picked was actually more than my $600 voucher, but the manager fixed me up and balanced out the other $140 more that the suit cost. I ended up walking out with a suit, for less than $25 for alterations.

Pissed in Hawaii : you claim that you currently have a lawyer on retainer but are whining about the price of clothes, not sure how that works. The "MY LAWYER" claim stopped working in 1984.

Every coupon in the history of man kind has TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

Have your *** cook, sorry, attorney Google that. Good luck you ignorant *** whole :grin

Hi! As I read this, I am just completely puzzled about the situation.

I have worked for Men's Wearhouse for over a year now, and have never sent a customer through this run-around. The deal is: if you get 5 paid tuxedo rentals underneath the groom (or whomever else you decide), that tuxedo is either free, or you get a voucher for a free suit valued at $500 or less. This voucher is COMPLETELY FREE as long as you get the five paid rentals in your group. I've never heard of an activation fee.

I currently work at a 'Tux' store, which is currently ranked #5 in the nation of 1,100 stores for volume. Our reorder (or mess-up) count is the lowest in the region.

When we get people in our store that decide they want a free suit instead of the free rental, we show them what we have on hand, but if they want a larger selection we will send them to one of our larger stores. I can guarantee you that even we have at least 10 suits in a 46R, being that size is so common.

Now, had you come in needing a 66R or something larger than normal, we would definitely send you to a larger store. No matter what, we always want to push our retail products that we have on hand.

I wear a 44R, sometimes a 46R as well depending on style. If I want a more broad selection to choose from, I would for sure go to our larger store to buy. When I do, I never have a problem getting what I'm looking for even if it means getting that product transferred or shipped to the store I want to buy from.

Now, had I went to that store wanting navy and pink plaid suit separates, I might then run into a problem. But when it comes to basic black, white, tan, brown, navy, charcoal and pin-stripped suits, I have no doubt in my mind that they would have what I'm looking for.

Representing the whole Men's Wearhouse corporation, I am truly sorry for your inconvenience and poor experience. We hope to regain your business when you need us next.

Best Wishes, Brandon R.

Yeah, you guys are going to stores where the people are clueless, or you are. This is a simple concept and BOTH salespeople AND customers make it harder than it ever should be.

I am going through the same ordeal. I wish i had seen this before i rented.

It's been a month of going back and forth over the "free suit". My issue with that they refuse to order the correct pants size for me. I've been into the store three different times requesting that they order the suit pants and each time i am told they have been ordered. When i call to confirm I learn that the order was cancelled because they "already have them in stock" but they can never find them when i go to pick up the complete suit.

I am heading back to the store today to request to speak with a manager and likely filing a complaint against the store.

While they do offer some top dollar high quality clothing, their rental insentives are garbage.

I would rent without any consideration for the "free suit" as you likely won't get it.

I'm not sure which Men's Wearhouse you went to. It's an easy concept.

You pay for 5 tux rentals, you get a free suit up to $500. It doesn't says, pay for 5 tux rentals, you get 1 free suit for $500 and a second one for $100. The coupon also says that it can be used as a $500 credit to a more expensive suit. Alterations not included, Everything else not included...

It's just the suit you get. This promotion is not a scam. Now, be aware that the people putting you into the suit do not make any commissions off of your free suit. They don't make anything off of the alterations, So that means that it's their job to show you other things like shirts, ties, belts, shoes, underwear, etc to try and augment their own paychecks.

And yes, There are mean people out there that use techniques to help you purchase more, but all in all, a free suit... is a great deal.

Just be armed with this info and be an excellent, knowledgeable consumer. True professionals don't give you bait and switch ***.

I too had a similar experience with this "free suit" BS. Wedding went great, we spent well over 1k in the store for all our rentals and a purchase on a toddler suit for my son.

Went back to get my free "suit." Picked out a coat and pant I wanted for well below the $500 limit. Here I figured, "great, the remainder will cover the shirt, shoes, tie, alterations, etc." WRONG, they tell me that NONE of these things are covered by the voucher, they are "extra." What the actual fu@K! I asked the one of the other associates, as the guy helping me was quite rude and un-attentive when it became clear I was not going to spend any money, that if I showed up to an executive interview wearing only the unaltered coat and pants if she would consider me dressed in a "suit." She shook her head and really had nothing to say. You see, there is no free "suit," you get a free coat and pant, that's it.

This is not what their ad says, it specifically says "suit." Im going to have my attorney look into the legality of their statements and hopefully sue them for false advertising, as this incentive was pivotal in my decision to use their services for my wedding rentals. "You're going to hate the way they treat you, I guarantee it."

A suit is a coat with a matchimg pair of pants. No need to pay for an attorney.
